Port Orleans Riverside is a moderate Disney resort. The resort itself is themed after Lousiana’s city New Orleans. Port Orleans itself is split into two different sections, Riverside and French Quarter. Riverside focuses on the Mississippi’s hustle and bustle along the river during the turn of the century. Port Orleans Riverside is sprawling and beautiful. Walkways are romantically lined with weeping willows covered in Spanish moss and makes a very picturesque setting. It’s very easy to get lost in the beauty of this resort. Port Orleans is also the home of the very popular Royal Guest Room
Royal Guest Room Overview
These rooms are fantastic! Themed after the Princess and the Frog, Tiana has invited the other Disney Princesses to visit her and each has left their mark on the room.
In the room you will find two queen sized beds, a table and chairs, a bureau and a smallish flat screened tv. You can very comfortably fit four in this room. The only drawback is that the bathroom is a little on the small side but it is still very manageable.
The big draw to this room is of course the theming. On the table Tiana leaves a lovely note explaining that the other princesses have stayed in the room and left her gifts over the years. It’s the little details that really make such a giant impression in this room. The faucets are genie’s lamp from Aladdin. The detail strip on the walls have key characters from the movies. Each princess has a portrait.
The amount of time you can spend just walking around and soaking it in is what makes these rooms so great.
Does the Royal Guest Room cost a lot more?
The Royal Guest Rooms do have an up charge over the standard Port Orleans Riverside rooms. On average they cost about fifty dollars more a night.
We totally think that it is worth the additional cost though. Especially for a special occasion like a birthday.
